Healthy Living Made Simple

Hello everyone and welcome to another Blog in Kayla's Corner!

I am so excited for you all to join me today as we jump into a topic that is very near and dear to my heart, health and fitness. Your body is your temple, it is essential that you are mindful of how you treat and what you use to fuel it.

In order to live a healthy lifestyle your must first be willing make the necessary changes that will help you take control of your health.

I will share what I have learned from my experiences so far and hope that it will inspire you all to do the same. I have found many ways to make the journey fun and I am excited to share, so lets get started.

ADJUST YOUR MINDSET

One of the most challenging when starting a health and fitness journey is literally getting started. Adjust the way you view this new lifestyle and come into it with a positive mindset.

I will admit that the beginning of my journey was pretty tough because I lacked discipline, motivation, and consistency which led to me constantly pushing back my start date. Once I started to look at working out from a different perspective, I begin to realize how many ways I could benefit from it.

Rather than saying "Ugh, I have to go workout today." try to shift to "I get to pour into myself by going to the gym today!" Avoid treating it like a task and more so a way to practice self love. Create a to do list where you list your workout splits and times for the week so you hold yourself accountable.

START SMALL AND BUILD

So my second tip is to make small changes at a time! Instead of deciding to work out five times a week right out of the gate, if you need a little more of a push try saying " I will only workout for 20 minutes" and you will more than likely want to keep going once that time is up. Every time I pushed myself to get up and go I felt amazing afterwards!

Now it is time to start to develop your workout routine. You will need to take the time to create a weekly plan so that you can stay organized. Each day should name what body part you will focus on and 4-5 exercises within that category. This will save you time and allow you to fully focus on the workout.

Once you are comfortable with your current routine you can start to transition to more days depending on your personal fitness goals. Please enjoy a visual example of a week of workouts and making healthy meals all created by the fitness influencer, "Naturally Shaped"

FOOD IS YOUR FUEL

There are many people that believe that you do not have to change your eating habits to lose weight if you are consistent in the gym but this could not be farther from the truth.

In order to see true weight loss experts say that your fitness routine should be 80 percent focused on diet and 20 percent focused on exercise. I do not suggest going cold turkey on all of your favorite foods but start by making substitutions where ever you can.

Overall going grocery shopping is always the healthier and more cost effective option. Remember while you are adjusting your meals to increase your water intake! It is crucial that you are consuming enough water throughout the day to help with weight loss, energy, and your overall health.

Here are some of my favorite meals to make at home that are both healthy and delicious!

ENJOY THE JOURNEY

I would like to encourage you all who are wanting to start your health and fitness journey to remember to give yourself grace. Look at it as a marathon rather than a sprint and understand that you will make mistakes.

Sometimes you will fall of and not be as consistent one week as you were the previous one. The important thing is to get back up and try again!

You also don't have to do it alone! Find some accountability partners that will be your motivation when you run out of steam.

If you grow tired of your routine, spice it up! Take a workout class, go swimming, go for a walk, or even play your favorite sport with some friends. Allow your fitness journey to be as exciting and spontaneous as you want it be.

To conclude today's blog post, I wanted to share my own personal fitness journey photos. The ones at the top were taken in 2022 and the photos on the bottom were taken in 2023! My journey has been incredibly rewarding and I am so happy with how I care for my body now.

I hope my story helps to inspire you all to get started and pour into yourself for the rest of this year.

Until next time, Stay Blessed and Beautiful!
