Dannel Petgrave, PhD
About
Dr. Petgrave (he/him/his) is a licensed clinical psychologist and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. As a clinical psychologist, he is passionate about helping patients learn practical strategies to effectively manage difficult thoughts and emotions in service of pursuing a more vital life. He most frequently treats patients with ADHD, anxiety, depression, racial stress, and racial trauma. Dr. Petgrave also has expertise in acceptance and commitment therapy, brief interventions, and health behavior change.
Dr. Petgrave’s research interests include Black/African American health, health disparities, health equity, stigma, social determinants of health, and racism. He also has interests in teaching, supervision, mentoring, and community engagement. In his free time, he enjoys reading and playing soccer. He also loves comedy, music and playing the saxophone.
